Evaluating the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on Jordanian Host Communities

REACH is a joint initiative of two international NGOs - ACTED and IMPACT Initiatives - and the UN Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) who in April 2014 a workshop to accompany the launch of the report: “Evaluating the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on Jordanian Host Communities“. The project was funded by the British Embassy in Amman and carried out in collaboration with the Government of Jordan

The workshop aimed to engage in a discussion on the challenges faced by Jordan in its response to the refugee crisis, particularly as in regards challenges to social cohesion and resilience. To reach this objective, the workshop was structured in three components: presentation of key findings; panel statements; and a panel discussion.

Several key speakers were part of the panel, including representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, and Ministry of Municipal Affairs from the Government of Jordan, as well as UNHCR and ACTED.

The panelists were asked to provide a statement on the situation concerning how they saw the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis. Thereafter, participants asked specific questions and were involved in a discussion concerning the situation in Jordan.

A summary of the presentations and discussions can be found on the REACH’s web page.
